Do I need braces?

After a proper clinical exam, x-rays, and teeth impressions, a dentist can determine if braces are a good choice for you. Only then can a proper treatment plan be developed.
Orthodontic treatment could be good for you if you feel to be a match with any of the following:

Upper front teeth stick out over the lower teeth. Commonly called “buck teeth” or overbite.
Lower teeth are too far forward or the upper teeth too far back. Commonly called “underbite” by the public.
Upper teeth do not come down slightly in front of the lower teeth. Commonly called “crossbite”.
Center of your upper frontal teeth does not align with the center of your lower front teeth. Better known as “bite disarray”.
Teeth do not reach to fill up the buccal cavity or are missing causing gaps between the teeth.

Several types of fixed braces are available.

Types of Braces: There are several types of braces available, including traditional metal braces, lingual braces, clear ceramic braces, and clear aligners such as Invisalign. The most commonly used type is traditional metal braces, which are made of stainless steel.

• Traditional braces (the most commonly needed orthodontic appliance)
• Conventional braces (the type that most people think of) require elastic or metal ties to hold the archwire in place.
• Self-ligating braces (the type our Orthodontists recommend most often) do not require elastic or metal ties. Self-ligating braces create proper tooth alignment faster, more comfortably, and with fewer adjustments (and office visits) than conventional braces.
• Ceramic braces are less noticeable than traditional braces because they tend to blend with the wearer’s natural tooth color. They are similar to conventional braces, but because they are made from porcelain, they are more expensive and susceptible to damage. Clear ceramic braces are similar to metal braces but use tooth-coloured brackets to blend in with your teeth.
• Lingual Braces: Lingual braces is a type of orthodontic treatment in which brackets and wires are attached to the inner surface of your teeth, making them unnoticeable from the outside. Lingual braces are affixed to the back surface of your teeth and remain hidden from the front. On the other hand, clear aligners, such as Invisalign, make use of transparent, detachable trays to align your teeth. They are particularly popular among adults and teenagers who desire to align their teeth without noticeable braces. Lingual braces can be more expensive than traditional braces and require extended adjustment, but they can provide excellent results.
